This brief promo for the film "Soldier of Fortune" dates to 1955, when the film premiered. It is notable in that it contains footage of actor Clark Gable departing for Hong Kong aboard a Pan Am Stratocruiser airplane with directed Edward Dmytryk. At 1:07, Gable is shown in Honolulu on a stop over, and then in Tokyo (1:23). At 1:29, Gable arrives in Hong Kong. Shots of the city follow including the Kowloon Ferry building, panoramas of the city, and busy street shots as well as shots aboard the Victoria Peak Tram cablecar, and shots of "shack city" (3:08) a refugee camp. "Soldier of Fortune" was a feature film about the rescue of an American prisoner in the People's Republic of China in the 1950s. It was directed by Dmytryk, starred Gable and Susan Hayward, and was written by Ernest K. Gann based on his 1954 novel. The film inspired the later U.S. T.V. series "Hong Kong"
