A club of artillery enthusiasts, becoming bored after the American Civil War has ended, embark on a new challenge: to blast a projectile all the way to the moon. The writing and plot in this novel can be a bit dull, but the same can’t be said for the novel’s scientific ambitions; it’s impressive for something written back in 1865.
I said one thing in this video that is probably not exactly accurate, about the first human flight being by the Wright Brothers in 1903. Apparently, it's more accurate to call that flight the first "heavier-than-air" flight, since hot air balloons (portrayed in other of Jules Verne's works) and gliders had been used as many as 100 years before 1903.
