Army body fat
Being in the US military is demanding. It’s not for the faint of heart. You have to be strong, brave, and tactical. Did you know that you even have to face several regulations and requirements when you enlist?
You have to be the right age, no younger 17 or older than 39.
You can’t be too tall, or too short. Between 4’7” and 6’6” is just right.
You definitely have to be athletic enough since your body fat should generally be between 18% to 28%
And you need a high-school diploma at the very least.
The exact standards can vary a little between the Army, Marines corps, Airforce and Navy.
But thats not all… you could be denied if you have a history of drug use, a criminal record, or even poor credit!
Why?
The US Department of Defense has height and weight requirements to meet the standard sizes of: uniforms, equipment, cockpits of airplanes, shipboards, and tanks.
Moreover, recruits should be physically able to handle to demands of service.
So how do you calculate your body fat percentage according to the US Department of Defense?
Well, the most accurate method for measuring body fat is done using a tape measure. For this you’ll need a tape measure, a pencil, a paper, and a calculator.
Measure the area around your neck and abdomen and jot those numbers down. Then, either add those numbers to OkCalculator’s Army body fat calculator, or alternatively, you can do this calculation using this formula:
For males, = 86.010 x log10(abdomen - neck) - 70.041 x log10(height) + 36.76.
for females, the formula is % body fat = 163.205 x log10(waist + hip - neck) - 97.684 x log10(height) - 78.387.
