In this Video, Alex wants to show you the differences between the Rode NT1-a Microphone and the Neumann TLM103.

You´ll hear a Voiceover section, a sibilance test aswell as a plosive test. To round it all of, he has also prepared three songs from us to show you the differences inside a Mix.

While the price difference is about 800€, both of these Microphones are etablished standards within the music industry.

There was no processing going on inside the vocal-tracks. Just the Fabfilter L-2 Limiter on the Masterbus of the Video to increase the volume.

ps. We think that both microphones work very well within alot of genres like Rap Vocals, Funk etc. but there are also clear differences between these two. The Rode Nt1a has less clarity in the mids and a hyped high end while the Neumann TLM103 just sounds more natural and true to its source. Compared to other Microphones, these two are quite bright microphones as for example the Shure SM7b or the Neumann TLM 102.

We hope that we could give you a little bit more insight on both these microphones.
