■Karaage■
Karaage is a type of Japanese dish where various ingredients (ex. chicken, squid, octopus, whitefish) coated with flour and/or starch are deep-fried. Most popular version is chicken karaage, and when we just say “karaage”, it generally refers to chicken karaage.
Chicken karaage is one of the most popular dishes among kids.
It also goes well with beer and other alcoholic beverage, and it is on the menu of most izakaya.
■Ingredients of Chicken Karaage■
[2-3 servings]
350-450g chicken thigh (skin-on, boneless)
[Marinade]
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp sake
1/2 tbsp sugar
a pinch of salt
some black pepper
1 clove garlic
20g ginger
1 egg
4 tbsp cake flour
[Coating]
potato starch
*You can substitute it with corn starch.
