A simple tutorial for taking amazing macro pictures with your "point and shoot" fixed lens camera, without spending a lot of money. You don't need an expensive DSLR & even more expensive macro lenses to get started with this hobby. If you'd like to take close up and larger than life pictures of insects, flowers, stamps or jewellery you're selling on Ebay for example, you can use your compact camera with just a few small and very cheap tweaks. This is the type of video I wanted to see years ago before I got into the hobby. It is simple, no confusing terms or jargon. They are plenty of videos with technical explanations but most are just too much for beginners.
I show you my simple macro set-up with my Canon SX50HS camera, which I got many years ago before getting a DSLR & prime lenses. You will also see many pictures I took with my basic camera & macro set-up, to see what is achievable on a budget. Starting out this way with a basic, affordable kit is a great way to learn whether you are really into the hobby, before you invest a lot of money in a DSLR & lenses.
Something I forgot to mention in the video: Always try to shoot in Manual mode or use the close up setting (it is a little flower on Canon cameras).
If you already have a DSLR but don't have a dedicated macro lens yet, I am doing a follow up video on how you can still take macro pictures for very cheap.
