Vlog 60: I decided a while back to share my mental health struggles - particularly those involving anxiety and depression. While seeking help for those conditions, I was recently diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, ADHD (actually a subtype of Attention Deficit Disorder, ADD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, OCD. While my mental health issues were prominent before I became a teacher, some of my mental health symptoms were a result of the daily wear and tear of being a teacher in a high-stakes testing world.

This vlog is the another personal vlog I've shared (2 of 2). I thought about speaking about my mental health struggles for several months. In the beginning I was hesitant because of mental health stigmas around the world; especially in regard to recent conversations centered around tragic events occurring at schools in the USA. However, as a society, we cannot seek to help or understand mental health issues if we don't talk about it and/or support those that struggle.
In the video, I mentioned that I was diagnosed with ADHD without the hyperactivity (the inattentive type of ADHD). ADD essentially is the inattentive type but falls under the umbrella/classification of ADHD. Individuals similar to myself often go undiagnosed, or are diagnosed with ADHD/ADD as adults, because they are seen as quiet or shy; and not impulsive/hyperactive.

I should note that it goes just beyond being quiet/shy and I did not list a majority of symptoms that I've struggled with since childhood (coupled with my anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder). For the sake of time, I left things out. However, if you have questions, please feel free leave me a comment about ADD/ADHD or OCD. I'll do my best to answer when I have the time to do so.
If there was anything in the vlog that you liked, then don't forget to Like or share the video. As always, thank you for watching!
