The Embers - "I Love Beach Music"
(music and lyrics by Jackie Gore)
From their 1979 album of the same name (eEe Records catalog no. EEE-1070)
(also released as eEe Records single EEE-1002)
Produced and arranged by The Embers; recorded at the late and great Reflection Sound Studios in Charlotte, NC.
This particular version of the "national anthem" of Carolina Beach Music is a staple of many music collections, jukeboxes, compilation albums, and so on.... however, this is technically considered an "alternate take" of the song, as the original 45 RPM release of "I Love Beach Music" (eEe Records single EEE-1001) features some rather notable differences with the horn arrangements, the inclusion of a drumbeat at the very beginning of the song, and a slightly longer fadeout - but perhaps most of all, that version does not have the string arrangements provided here by the late and great producer Duke Hall.
The original version without strings can be heard here:

BACKGROUND:
The Embers are a Raleigh, NC based vocal group credited with popularizing a particular sub-genre of classic soul and dance music known to many people today as "beach music".
Jackie Gore, the band's longtime former co-founder and lead singer, wrote this tune while sitting at his breakfast table one morning after his wife suggested he could write a song all about 'beach music' - after all, The Embers were seeing a huge surge in popularity at that time, and many younger folks (especially college-age kids) seemed to follow them wherever they would perform - and Gore wanted to come up with something to appeal to those who really wanted a "beach music" tune to call their very own.
He then proceeded to play around on his guitar, and just like that, the melody and words to the song just sort of 'came to him' in his own head. It was an instant hit upon its release, despite the lack of charting success. This song also mentions quite a few classic tunes from artists like The Catalinas ("Summertime's Calling Me", recorded a few years earlier), Billy Ward & the Dominoes ("Sixty Minute Man"), The Drifters ("Up On The Roof", "Under The Boardwalk"), The Tymes ("Ms. Grace"), "39-21-40 Shape" and "It Will Stand" by the Showmen, among others.
In an ironic twist, "I Love Beach Music" really broke through not just as a song by itself, but as a jingle for Budweiser in the early 1980s, and after some initial hesitation from Anheiser-Busch, the band was picked up by the company for their Budweiser television advertisements which ran for several years.
A complete history of The Embers is featured in the McBryde Films documentary "The Embers: The Heart And Soul of Beach Music" - which can be viewed here: [ Ссылка ]...
LYRICS:
I love beach music
I always have and I always will
There ain't no other kind of music in the world that gives me quite the thrill
When I hear "Sixty Minute Man"
and "Walking Up A One Way Street"
He's up on the roof, he's under the boardwalk
Summertime's calling me
Ooh-ooh
(bom-bom-bom, bom-bom-bom)
(wee-ooo beach music)
(Bom-bom-bom, bom-bom-bom, wee-ooo beach music)
I love beach music
'Cause I was born with it in my bones
I learned to shag on the beach, with the salt in the air and the sand at my feet
Yea-eaaahh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, Ms. Grace
39-21-40 shape,
What kind of fool do you think I am,
When forever and ever it will stand, yes
I love beach music
Every single day of my life
I love beach music
You know that I do
Do dooo do do do, Do da do do do do do do do
Do dooo do do do, Do do dooooo....
I love beach music
Every single day of my life
I love beach music
You know that I do
Whoa-oh-oh
I love beach music
[That old beer drinking music, the shaggin' kind of music, like you hear at O.D.]
I love beach music
[I'm talking about music by The Tams, The Clovers, The Catalinas, The Embers!]
I love beach music
You know that I do
Whoa-my-my...... (fades out)
