I had a fun and wild day testing out my completed Stelvio QV modded SUV at the local Qlispe Racetrack.
Overall, it was very good, but I had a few surprises. It was close to 90° so hot and the car would overheat a bit after pushing it real hard. so towards the end of the day, I would have to do a lap release cool before I could drive it hard again for another couple laps maybe.
The first half of the day I’ve got some pretty good sessions without that happening.
Also, I haven’t tracked my Stelvio in a while and I forgot that even in full race mode, the Italians threw it in a little fraction control. so as I push the car more and did some advanced driving techniques like lift off oversteer and grinding hard and sweepers the motor would cut off a bit. First it scared me like I thought it was starvation on gas, but no lights came on and then I remembered there was a little bit of traction control even Race mode..
There’s actually some in the Giulia QV but it’s almost impossible to see it unless you drive really badly or you are a very good driver and you know how to do things like tossing it in the turns.
Also, I had 10psi too much air in my Hoosier tires, but I didn’t figure that out until after the first session and they had already lost some of their speed.
But all in all a really good showing and a fun time!
