Jontay Porter, formerly of the NBA, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a charge stemming from a betting scheme where he bet against himself and feigned injuries during games. The plea was entered before U.S. Magistrate Judge James Cho, and while the charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, Porter's cooperation with law enforcement is expected to result in a reduced sentence. His sentencing is scheduled for December 18. Porter's acknowledgment of his actions and expression of remorse were noted during his arraignment, and he is currently receiving treatment for a gambling addiction.
