A freak ice storm in Russia's Far East has left almost 100,000 people without electricity in the city of Vladivostok since last week.
Thursday night's freezing rain covered the city with ice and brought down trees and power lines.
Analysts and activists have linked the freak weather phenomenon, which was caused by a hot-air cyclone colliding with a cold-air anticyclone, to global climate change.
The Primorye region saw exceptionally warm temperatures this fall, and the resulting temperature fluctuations may have led to the storm.
