Created for Telephone Collectors International ( TCI ) by Russ Kirk
This is a Western Electric Teletrainer Model KS-16605-L1. These were used from the 1950’s to 1970’s.
The Bell System created a detailed communications and telephone program for lower elementary teachers nationwide. The program provided children hands-on experience how to properly use the telephone and the history of communications. These Teletrainers, and the accompanying teaching materials, were available to all teachers free of charge. Often times, local telephone operators or installers visited the schools to help the teachers and provide assistance.
Along with the loan of a Teletrainer that came in a small suitcase, the Bell System provided the teachers a 61 page teacher’s book, pupil books, wall charts, film strips and a film entitled “How We Use the Telephone”.
Hope you enjoy the demonstration.
