This is one of the most popular and most damaging myths of all. Using 'dominance' to train dogs is an outdated method, that is still popular today and remains so due to certain TV programmes that base their concepts on these myths. Humans who try to exert 'dominance' over dogs, usually do it by applying force, fear and punishment in order to get a dog to 'submit' to them. This treatment most commonly creates an aggressive dog. Science has debunk this myth again and again, with current studies still doing so. As dog owners and trainers, who believe in the power of scientific, positive reward based training methods, it is up to us to spread the word and make these myths history.
