FIA ERC Junior Under 27 newcomer Kacper Wróblewski feared his event-ending crash on PZM Rally Poland would “never end”, having suffered a dramatic roll on leg one.
Making debut in the Pirelli-backed category with Rallytechnology, Wróblewski and co-driver Jacek Spentany were running an impressive fourth in class after four stages. However, a crash on the Tarmac section of Saturday morning’s pass of Mikołajki MAX ended their event one stage later.
“We were doing really well until it was too fast on a Tarmac section. I went into a corner and we run out of the road and we went off at a very high speed,” explained Wróblewski, the 2018 Polish 2WD champion.
“We were flat out, on fifth gear, doing 160kph. We rolled several times, all I could see was the sky and the ground all over again and I had the feeling that it will never end.”
Though Wróblewski was unharmed during the crash, his co-driver Spentany was less fortunate, injuring his back. “It was a massive hit. I feel good but my co-driver has damaged three cervical vertebrae,” Wróblewski added.
