Raisina Dialogue 2020 | Countries in the emerging world require trillions of dollars in infrastructure investment to meet the needs of their rapidly maturing economies. A host of ‘mega infrastructure’ initiatives have been launched in recent years to respond to these initiatives.
However, bad standards for governance and finance have often placed recipient economies under crippling debt. This panel at Raisina Dialogue 2020 asks the following questions: How can states with shared interests in a free and open global economy create infrastructure investment standards that serve the interests of emerging economies? What role must environmental and political concerns play in the norms underpinning the emerging world’s big infrastructure build-out? How must global finance deal with its failure to address the infrastructure gap in the emerging world?
Moderator: Claire Alembik (Investment Specialist, Asian Development Bank, Private Sector Operations Department, Thailand Office)
Panelists:
