The Collaborative RESearch Team to study psychosocial issues in Bipolar Disorder (CREST.BD) at the University of British Columbia.
CREST.BD is a Canada-based network that functions internationally. It was formed in 2005 to meet the gap in psychosocial research in BD. At the core of the network is a valuing of different kinds of expertise, and the belief that science and care be shaped and advanced by working in partnership with researchers, people living with bipolar disorder, healthcare providers, and family members and supporters. The CREST.BD team focuses on developing new knowledge on psychosocial treatments for BD, advancing knowledge on effective self-management and quality of life, addressing stigma and discrimination and developing knowledge on Community-Based Participatory Research in BD. Basically, everything they do, from research focUS to securing funding, to designing and delivering the research, to publishing and presenting and final knowledge translation, is done hand-in-hand with people with lived experience of BD.
