Suzie is an accelerator physicist and science communicator. Her research on particle accelerators at Oxford University and Melbourne University spans from experimental investigations into fundamental beam dynamics of non-linear integrable systems for high-intensity proton accelerators — through to data collection on the breakdowns of radiotherapy linacs in Low and Middle Income Countries to improve radiotherapy provision as part of the STELLA collaboration. She is fascinated by the many any varied uses of particle accelerators in society and the ways in which curiosity driven research has the potential to change the world. Her 2018 TED talk on ‘The Case for Curiosity Driven Research’ has been viewed over 1.8M times and her first popular science book ’The Matter of Everything’ is due out in early 2022.
