These aluminum pistons were crushed and broken up to separate the clean cast aluminum from the steel rings. By doing this, the scrapper is able to make more money by bringing in clean aluminum metal. The hammer mill did a great job and can process 600-1000 lbs/hr of pistons. With a mag belt and conveyor this would be a great way to process pistons or other aluminum scrap metal that is contaminated with steel.
