Charging System diagnosis and repair on a 1970s International Harvester Cub Tractor with the C60 engine.
We removed the 12 volt, 20 amp generator, disassembled it, and sanded down every electrical contact point on the internals of it. After we reinstalled the generator, the generator still wouldn't charge. This brought us to the voltage regulator (or control box), where the contact points on the cut-off relay and regulator itself needed a minor polish. After we took a file to the contact points, the generator finally started charging. No rebuild kit was necessary, however a 4 wire voltage regulator will need to be purchased in the near future.
This video applies to anyone that owns an International Harvester Cub, Cub Lo Boy, Cub Cadet, or Farmall Cub with the C60 4 cylinder engine. This generator was a challenge for us due to the lack of reliable information on these old tractors.
