A childhood favourite of mine, Tina Charles was a disco pioneer, just predating Donna Summer, and spearheading the move from pop and soul music into something with heavier orchestrations and a pounding beat. Her solo career was to be navigated by Biddu, an Indian British writer and producer. Tina would, after recording the vocals for studio band 5000 Volts, go on to sell more than 30 million records world wide. In Australia, "I'm on fire" reached the top 5 in early 1976, with Tina's own hits beginning later that year, with 'I love to love (but my baby loves to dance)'. "I'm on fire" distinguishes itself by its high energy, and soaring vocals. Four decades on, Tina is recording and touring again - still the disco diva she always was! Enjoy!
