► Most of the countries in this list remained neutral until at least 1942, with the exception of the Baltic states which were absorbed by the USSR and Germany, and the United States, which was infamous for its isolationism until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Some of these countries are not completely neutral, such as Spain and Sweden which were "non-belligerent" countries.
► Some initially neutral countries such as Denmark, the Netherlands, and Belgium were not included since they were occupied by Germany and later liberated by the Allies, unlike the Baltic states whose independence was not restored but instead incorporated into the USSR.
► Some neutral countries such as Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, and Tibet did not have a national anthem yet during World War II. Bhutan adopted its national anthem in 1953, Saudi Arabia in 1950, and Tibet in 1950.
► CORRECTION: I don't know how I managed to put 1941 instead of 1940 in Estonia's interwar period date, but it should be 1940 like with Latvia and Lithuania.
