Finnish folk metal ambassadors, Ensiferum, recorded the basic tracks and mixed their new album on tape. As we already know information is lost during analog to digital conversion so the vinyl version of the album was done from the tape without any AD & DA conversion. Here's how this old school method was done shown by mr Anssi Kippo @ Astia-studio A (Lappeenranta, Finland).
The tape used was RTM SM900 1/4", 15ips +6/320nWb/m, IEC eq, no noise reduction on Studer A812.
Drums, bass, rhythm guitars and Petri's vocals were recorded on RTM SM900 2" tape and kept there untouched so there's no editing used. All drums are one take and on several songs bass was played live along with drums without any overdubbing to capture the amazing live energy Ensiferum has.
We hope you get to enjoy the album on the same sound as we did at studio which can be done by listening the vinyl.
