In this the fifth of six video interviews, Dr Michael Shannon, Director, Nursing and Midwifery Services, Health Service Executive, emphasises the importance of Continuous Professional Education and Professional Development for Nurses and Midwives in relation to the provision of quality and safe care.

Dr Shannon acknowledges the unique position of the Faculty within the interdisciplinary environment of RCSI and he identifies opportunities for the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery to provide creative and innovative CPD and continuing education to meet the health service needs and support the health reform agenda.
