Engelbert Humperdink with a seasonal offering, which reached #7 in the UK and #16 in the US.

Engelbert’s chart run began in the UK and the US with “Release Me” in 1967. Such was his success that by the time “Winter World Of Love” entered the charts in late 1969, Engelbert had already racked up eight UK Top-20 singles – all of which made the US Top 40. His first five LPs for UK Decca (US Parrot) made the album Top-20 in both the UK and the US in the same period, 1967 – 1969.

Engelbert didn’t release a Christmas album until “Christmas Tyme” in 1977 when he was with Epic Records. The album “Merry Christmas With..” followed in 1980.

Les Reed and Barry Mason wrote an incredible number of songs in the 60s and 70s. The Fortunes’ “Here It Comes Again” and Engelbert’s “The Last Waltz” were but two of these.
