As the indoor season approaches coach John Shepherd (coach to European junior champs & UK age-group record holders www.johnshepherdfitness.co.uk) takes a further look at the evolution of the guys' technique and how their timing are improving with more work. As I have said in previous videos running in at speed and getting an optimum take-off is crucial. Don't hang about on short approaches if you want to maximise the distances you want to jump. Yes, you will need to have a basic effective technical model and understanding, but this will get 'set' at slower speeds and could make for a challenge to deal with the greater speed that comes with longer approaches. Getting your timing right is crucial and 'getting on top of your technique' so it becomes more robust. No two jumps will be identical, but we are looking for each to become closer and closer in terms of their qualities so that technique solidifies.
