00:14 Elizabeth Perrin introduces Kate Paton.
Kate Paton is a New Zealander now living in Vancouver BC. This video, narrated by Kate, is a collection of some of the wildlife and birds she has seen during the pandemic, while taking walks in British Columbia, mostly in the Metro Vancouver area. That includes 10:44 Bald Eagles nesting, 12:31 baby Great-horned Owls, 13:07 Dunlin and Sandpiper murmurations, and 13:57 a Short-eared Owl on a signpost, 15:29 a Peregrine Falcon with 2 chicks. Video footage outside the Lower Mainland includes 16:09 a deer and 17:12 two otters at Manning Park, and 17:47 a Lynx at Quesnel. Back at Boundary Bay, 18:55 a pair of Coyotes, and 20:54 a Great-horned Owl. There were 24:27 8 River Otters crossing the trail at one time!
Throughout the presentation, Kate stresses the importance of ethical photography, e.g. keeping on trails and maintaining a respectful distance from wildlife. "A walk in nature, watching wildlife is ... good for your physical health, and it's really great for your mental health too."
