STORYLINE:
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was welcomed in the Iranian capital on Saturday by the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Al-Assad is in Tehran for talks with his closest regional ally, Ahmadinejad, and other Iranian leaders.
He was officially received at the presidential palace by the Iranian president.
