Five-color flowers are flowers that grow and have their own beauty.

The iridescent flower tree is also known by many names such as guava flower, fragrant guava, guava brooch, devil flower, monophyletic tree, and pig shit flower tree.

This flower has the scientific name Lantana camara L., belongs to the Verbenaceae family.

The origin of the iridescent flower comes from Central America and is now widely grown in many parts of the world.

Five-color flowers are woody, small trees, 0.5 - 1m high, with sharp thorns, soft branches and reaching out everywhere. The leaves are green and hairy on the upper side.

This plant is called a five-color flower because the flowers have many vibrant colors, forming clusters. Flowers have the ability to bloom all year round, from April to September. The fruit when young is green but when ripe it is black, sweet and delicious, inside contains seeds.

Five-color flowers have many effects in medicine to create oriental medicine such as:

- Medicines to treat coughs such as dry cough, coughing up blood, tuberculosis or due to weather changes.

- Remedies for runny nose such as stuffy nose, sinusitis.

- Antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, detoxification, swelling, ...

How to grow

- Method of sowing: Use seeds inside the fruit of the tree when ripe, then bring the seeds to sow in the previously prepared soil, then water to provide moisture as usual.

After a period of 3-4 days, the seeds will begin to germinate and continue after another 2 weeks, the young plants will begin to develop.

- Method of cuttings: Take a part of the branch from the stem of the mother tree, choose a branch about 15cm long and free from pests. Then put the branch in the pot of soil and then take care of the plant to grow until it matures.

Irrigation water

When the tree is young, you must regularly water the plant 1-2 times a day, in the early morning and cool afternoon of the day.

When the flower plant has grown and matured, you should water it 2-3 times a week to avoid making the plant waterlogged and leading to death.

Note: We should not water plants at late times because this is the time to create favorable conditions for insects to develop and cause diseases and damage plants.
