During the Second World War, there were a number of extermination camps set up by the SS. Treblinka became the second deadliest site of the conflict, as up to 900,000 people were died inside of the barbed wire fences. But on route to their deaths inside the gas chambers, the prisoners were forced to run down the tube, or the Avenue of Death as it was known. This was a 90 metre long path where SS officers drove victims to their deaths. It was protected by barbed wire and there was no way of escape.
