In this video I paint a realistic Canadian maple leaf and talk about my process when working on botanical illustration. In this painting tutorial I also explain how I achieve this detailed and realistic look. I hope you enjoy this fall leaf painting idea and will get inspired to paint along. I started with simple leaf drawing and proceed with layering watercolor technique.

Watercolor is one of my favorite mediums to use for illustrations portraying plants, flowers and drawing from nature. Painting autumn leaves is very inspiring and meditative to me, as it is my favorite season of the year.
