Olive Pomace Oil comes from the olive grove.
To understand its origins, we start with the olive. Its pressing gives us 20% olive oil in its three traditional categories: virgin-extra, virgin and olive oil. What happens to the remaining 80%? This is the moist pomace oil or spent olives. It is composed of water, pits and olive skins, and it is the raw material for Olive Pomace Oil.
Following an extraction and refining process, 2% of the moist pomace is transformed into this unique product that, for consumption, is blended or mixed with virgin or extra-virgin olive oil. Olive Pomace Oil contains the beneficial properties of not only the oil but also of the skin and pit of the olive.
Choosing Olive Pomace Oil from among the various types of vegetable oils means choosing an oil classified among the “good” or monounsaturated fats. These should make up the largest proportion of any balanced diet and can represent 13% and 18% of total calories for the day. They are also the ones that reduce the type of cholesterol known as “bad” (LDL) and increase “good” (HDL) cholesterol.
Up to 85% of the composition of Olive Pomace Oil is oleic acid with cardiovascular benefits. It also contains 2% natural components, the so-called minor compounds with antioxidant properties. Differential qualities that are scientifically endorsed by Spain’s Advanced Scientific Research Council (CSIC).
Olive Pomace Oil is a unique oil, born in the olive grove, and an excellent choice for a balanced and healthy diet.
