The OECD visited a metal joining factory in rural Portugal to report on how the use of automated robots can make dangerous, dirty and tiring work safer, cleaner and less boring for workers. Technological progress in the future of work can lead to collaboration, rather than the elimination of jobs, meaning that people and companies grow side-by-side. The future of work is now and we need to make sure that workers have the skills to use technology effectively and that companies are ready to use it in order to boost productivity and improves workers’ lives.
