The Boston Police Department has released body worn camera footage after the arrest of 108 students overnight at Emerson College. The footage shows Boston Police Captain Sean Martin of District A-1 attempting to de-escalate the situation with the protestors, and warning them of the city ordinances they are violating prior to making any arrests. Protestors ignored these warnings before the Boston Police ultimately took action and made 108 arrests while clearing the public area of the protestors and the encampment created by them.
This stemmed from an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 25, 2024, right around 2 am. The released bodycam footage shows one officer clearly stating "We don't want to arrest anybody. We support your right to protest. I'm indifferent. I don't have a side either way. I want you to be able to peacefully do this,"
In addition to the 108 people arrested, there were four officers injured. One officer received serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Sgt. John Boyle, the Boston Police Department spokesman confirmed that there were 108 people arrested. All of whom are set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on either May first or May 8th
