Here's my response to Sumerian Records' call for singers to write an original tune over a previously created instrumental track.
The song is called "Parallels"
Lyrics:
Lost outside the bounds of reason once again
Shallow pride blocks your only way in
Stop right there, you've wandered too far to tell
And you've failed to see the parallels
Be still now, as I peel apart the layered shell
There is truth in between your fears, your hopes, your tells
See just how it connects to every promise we sell
And you'll start to see the parallels
All your thoughts upon a matter may fall short
If a calm mind hails rage to retort
Hear my words, my voice, the song in my heart
Let not this moment's end precede its start
Be still now as I peel apart the layered shell
There is truth in between your fears, your hopes, your tells
See just how it connects to every promise we sell
And you'll start to see the parallels
You'll start to see the parallels
I'm familiar in a place I never thought I'd call home
It doesn't fill my longing to roam...
Be still now, as I peel apart the layered shell
There is truth in between your fears, your hopes, your tells
See just how it connects to every promise we sell
Then you'll start to see the parallels... the parallels...

*UPDATE
I realize something funny happened at the end of the video, but it has no effect on the performance.
