People of faith, faith leaders, and people working in the HIV and AIDS response are invited to attend the one-day Faith Pre-Conference to the U.S. Conference on HIV/AIDS to discuss and develop strategies to access and strengthen the capacity of houses of worship and faith-based organizations who are engaged or wish to engage, in efforts to end the HIV epidemic. The focus of this conference will be on the experiences of people in the Southern region of the U.S. and the role of faith in combating HIV-related stigma and discrimination in the South. The conference will include keynote addresses, panel discussions with persons living with and affected by HIV, and breakout sessions on social determinants related to HIV including disparities in HIV education, prevention, and treatment as a consequence of geographic location. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in the discussion, participate in the development of strategies, and network with colleagues working in and with faith communities.
Organized by the U.S. HIV & AIDS Faith Coalition, with support from Gilead Sciences, the HIV Vaccine Trials Network, and the United Church of Christ.
