While performing a head gasket job on a 1.9L Mercury Tracer, we broke off one of the head bolts. Using a welder, we welded a nut onto the stub of the broken head bolt, and after it cooled, we turned the welded-nut to easily remove the broken head bolt stud. What if you don't own a welder? We didn't try it, but maybe running some JB Weld on the threads of the head bolt, then screwing a nut on and letting it set overnight could help. The welder certainly seems to provide some extra heat on the bolt, to aid removal. Like, share and subscribe to our YOUTUBE channel.
