First and foremost, if you are someone who has not applied for the EIDL grant and you qualify - I would encourage you to PAUSE this video and watch a video I did last week on the EIDL application. The link can be found HERE: [ Ссылка ]
Over the last few weeks I have gotten hundreds (maybe even thousands) of emails, DMs on Instagram and YouTube comments of people asking me questions about the EIDL program, the PPP stimulus packages...etc Though, I am trying to respond to every comment, I have noticed a trend with these comments and that is that almost 60% of these comments are regarding the “Opt-In” box during the EIDL Application - more specifically people who did not opt-in for the EIDL grant and these people are wondering if they are still going to get the grant and if not how they can go about appealing that. So, let’s discuss that today!
The first thing you need to do is call the SBA and ask to speak to a tier 2 representative.
NUMBER TO CALL THE SBA: 1(800)-659-2955
Once you are on the call with the SBA and a tier 2 rep, then let them know that you made a mistake on your application and you would like to officially opt-in for the $10,000 cash advance. This rep will probably say 1 of 2 things. She will say that they will note it in your file and you should hear something soon. Or, she may say that you need to file an official appeal. Regardless of what she says, you will want to continue onto step 2. The whole point of calling the SBA is so that they can note it in your file, and you can have it recorded that you call, that you know that you did not opt-in and that this was a mistake and you DO want to opt-in for the $10,000 cash advance.
Next, you will want to file an appeal or a letter of reconsideration or appeal - you will want to both email and mail a physical copy of this letter. Here are the addresses below:
Send the appeal via email HERE:
pdcrecons@sba.gov
ohafilings@sba.gov
Mail a paper copy here:
U.S. Small Business Administration
Processing and Disbursement Center
14925 Kingsport Rd.
Ft. Worth, TX 76155-2243
In your letter of reconsideration, you will want to simple, something similar to this:
To Whom It May Concern,
my name is (YOUR NAME), my EIDL Application Number is XXXXXXXXXXX
I am submitting a letter of reconsideration and an appeal for the EIDL cash advance. During the application process, I did not “Opt-In” for the cash advance of up to $10,000 and I am now submitting this letter as an official opt-in request for the cash advance. I would like to receive the cash advance up to $10,000 as outlined in the CARES Act.
Please let me know if you have any questions, I appreciate your time.
Best,
YOUR NAME
YOUR PHONE NUMBER
EMAIL
MAILING ADDRESS
Once you type this out you will want to send it both via email and a paper copy through the mail and you should hear something within a week or two.
Now, the problem with this is, it is unclear how effective this method is in order to officially opt-in for the advance. There are a lot of people who did not opt-in, and I have had a lot of trouble finding cases where people have appealed this successfully. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, people may just not be talking about it. But, regardless I encourage you to follow these steps outlined above in an effort to ensure you have covered all the steps you need to make in order to get the $10,000 cash advance.
