(17 Apr 2020) Prince William and his wife Catherine - the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - have launched a new campaign by their charity Every Mind Matters to help people with their mental health during the coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview to mark the launch, the Duchess said she thought people's values will change once the pandemic is over.
"The NHS and the frontline workers are doing the most extraordinary job and that's really come to the forefront in the last few weeks, and I think it's going to dramatically change how we all value and see our frontline workers," said the Duchess, the former Kate Middleton.
The Duke said he was concerned about the emotional toll the crisis was having on health workers.
"I think for the NHS frontline workers that is very difficult because they are there, right next to their bedsides, looking after and caring for each and every patient who is in a critical condition. And I think they take away that pain and that sometimes that fear and that loneliness that these patients have to go through. They are the ones who absorb that and then take it home to their families," he noted.
The royal couple also had praise for Captain Tom Moore, the 99-year-old who has raised millions of pounds for the NHS by walking laps around his garden.
Prince William described him as a one-man fundraising machine, saying everyone had been inspired by him.
"God knows what the final total will be, but good on him, I hope he keeps going," the prince added.
