American Amanda Knox broke down into tears today in an Italian court as she appealed her murder conviction.
The 23-year-old addressed the court for about 20 minutes, insisting she is the victim of an enormous mistake and that her has been broken.
Knox, seen here in an earlier proceeding and her then boyfriend were both convicted of murder last year.
They were accused of killing her British room mate during a brutal, sexual attack.
Saturday Knox denied being the "dangerous, diabolical, uncaring, violent" person described by the prosecution.
She also reached out to the family of her slain roommate.
She said she considered her a dear friend and is sorry she is no longer living.
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison.
However prosecutors are also appealing the decision, and are hoping to win a life sentence for her.
It's not clear how long the appeals process will last.
