This is video not for driving tests where you are not allowed to rollback. Follow whatever method your instructor is teaching. This is related to this video except for flat ground, learn to get rid of dead space [ Ссылка ] .For hills, start off giving a lot of clutch engagement so you get used to understanding what is going on. Then you try 1/2 as much clutch, then try quick 1/4 clutch, but it will still be clutch then gas. The more time you practice this slowly the quicker you will understand it and you will spend less time in the long run doing poor clutch starts.
If your clutch engages quicker than what you see in the video then that is great let it engage quick, clutch out and go.
Understand when you watch videos there will be all sorts of variations between cars with new clutches and worn clutches(the engagement bite point is very different)but the sequence is always the same "clutch before gas".
Don't spend a lot of time thinking about what to do once you engage your clutch, when it grabs you need to move your foot to the gas fast but don't slam it down on the gas pedal.
Don't hold your car on the hill using the clutch...as in don't just sit on the hill waiting for the traffic to move or light to turn green with your clutch engaged, your clutch is not a handbrake. You are either stopped with full clutch in and brake or you are going, clutch up gas, hold, go.
Don't look at your gauges when doing hill starts. If you look at your rpm gauge you will end up not noticing your are rolling back. Look at the road and you will see even the slightest rollback movement. It is very dangerous and happens all the time!
What do you do in this situation which everyone faces when learning stick [ Ссылка ]
Crowd watching, cars behind you honking, people yelling things! Don't panic go to your safe space and breathe, clutch up, give gas , hold and go.
If someone tells you to move both feet at the same time like one goes up the other goes down. Your feet are not a seesaw, they are not connected and neither is your clutch and gas. They are doing distinctly different things and if you try to move both at the same time you always be on the edge of stalling the car.
If someone tells you to "just give gas and clutch up" ask yourself are they understanding your zero experience driving stick? Do they know you are young, old, maybe you are not that quick with your feet. Will giving gas and bringing up your clutch work for you on a steep hill as a complete new standard transmission driver? Watch if they are giving a ton of gas and bringing up their clutch because they are trying to do it quick. Will it work in tight traffic where you have to move up only 4 feet?
