Two people died when a ferry sank unexpectedly in the Philippines in the early hours of the morning.
The cargo and passenger ferry was making a four hour cross-island journey when it sank quickly before dawn.
About three quarters of the 57 people listed on the ship's manifest have been rescued, although it is suspected that the manifest did not accurately reflect the total number of passengers.
As many as 62 are suspected to be on board, with about 20 of these still missing
Sea accidents are common in the Philippines due to poor safety standards and overloading of ferries, although it is not suspected this ferry was overloaded.
The world's deadliest peacetime maritime disaster occurred near Manila in 1987 when a ferry laden with Christmas holidaymakers collided with a small oil tanker, killing more than 4,000 people.
