Fibromyalgia is a long-term (chronic) condition. It causes:
- pain in the muscles and bones
- areas of tenderness
- general fatigue
- sleep and cognitive disturbances
Fibromyalgia can be challenging to treat. But medications, therapy, and lifestyle changes can help you to manage your symptoms and to improve your quality of life.

Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is apian in multiple parts of the body.
Most common parts are:
Neck
Shoulders
Back
Hands
Pelvic region
Causes
Hormonal changes
Immune system :disturbances in body immune system.
But exact cause is not known.
Symptoms
Widespread pain:Both side of your body, above and below your waist.
Fatigue: Tiredness, sleep disorders( restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea )
Cognitive difficulties: Affect the ability to concentrate.
Symptoms generally stay for at least 3 months.
Who is affected ?
3 to 5 % of general population.
Occurs in all age groups including children.
More common in women
Treatment
No permanent cure but can be reduced by medication, exercises,physical therapy,
Physical therapy
Deep tissue massage
Low impact aerobic conditioning( water aerobics)
Pain relief exercises
Stretching & strengthening exercises.
Tens units ( transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation ).
Ultrasound ( physical therapy )
Exercises
Start with a 5 minutes walk
Gradually increase it ot 15-20 minutes
Include stretching and mobility of joints to start with
Swimming
Yoga
Maintain a regular sleep cycle of 6-8 hours.
