Objective:
Use an appropriate lifting device to safely rig and bring to the surface an object that weighs no more than 11 kilograms/25 pounds.
Value:
If you are doing a Project AWARE reef clean-up and you find a car tire, then you can use the lift bag diving skill to safely bring it up to the surface.
Organisation:
I want you all in a straight line on the sand without touching any aquatic life. My Divemaster will be looking after you and then I will come up to you one at the time to perform the lift bag scuba skill.
Signals:
This is my signal of the skill and the rest of the signals I will be integrating in my review of the skill.
Review:
First I will be holding on to the lift bag. Then I would like you to rig the lift bag to the weight belt. I will then give you the lift bag to check if you rigged it correctly. After that I will take the lift bag again holding the dump valve, just in case you might add to much air.
Then I would like you to take out your alternate air source and with the mouth piece down add little bit's of air into the lift bag until it is neutrally buoyant. Then please streamline your alternate air source and then I will give the lift bag to you.
Please with one hand old the lift bag and with the other hand hold the dump valve. Then slowly swim up to the surface, realising bits of expanding air with the dump valve while looking up making sure the ascent is clear from obstacles.
Please be very careful for any boats on the surface! Always use a DSMB.
