Moldova is a small country in Eastern Europe. It is located between Romania and Ukraine, and has a land area of 33,850 km2 (13,587 sq mi). It's slightly larger than Belgium or the state of Maryland in the US. while its population of 3.5 million people is roughly equivalent to that of Miami-Dade County.
Moldova's capital city is Chisinau (pronounced "chinay"), which also serves as its largest city by population at just over half a million people. In addition to being one of Europe's smallest countries by territory size—it spans only about 100 miles along its eastern border with Romania—Moldova also has some remarkable natural wonders within its borders that make it worth exploring if you're looking for somewhere new to visit!
