ईमानदारी का महत्व एक लोकतांत्रिक समाज में अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। यदि हमारे नेता ईमानदार होंगे, तो सरकारी नीतियों का पालन किया जाएगा, और देश के लोगों के प्रति सरकार की विश्वासपात्रता बढ़ेगी। हालांकि, दुष्प्रचार, भ्रष्टाचार और बाहरी हवाओं के प्रभाव से कई राजनीतिज्ञ अपने आपको दूसरे नीतिज्ञों के तुलनात्मक उदाहरणों से अलग कर देते हैं।
