We removed the nose tags and separated them from their mamas. We out the kids back in the pasture where they have been for the past week and took the mamas out to join the big herd out on crop stubble.
Overall, Kolter and I both think the nose tags helped. They were definitely still flipping them up and suckling a little, but the actual separation part of the weaning went relatively smoothly and they don’t look like lost puppies like some animals do at weaning time. Their age is definitely in their favour too as this is a fairly late wean as they were 3.5 months old! And normal recommendations for weaning is about 60 days.
