The observations of the Thulean sun-waiting tradition by a Greek traveler more than two thousand years ago is particularly interesting since it is still a tradition in the northern parts of Norway to actually celebrate the day (sometime in January of February depending on how far north one lives) when the first sunrays hit the closest mountaintop (to one´s settlement). Then, people take the day off work or school, bake Sun Buns and celebrate the first sunlight after months of total darkness
