China has loosened its comprehensive ban on the use of tiger and rhinoceros parts in medicine.
New regulations announced Monday revoke a comprehensive 25-year ban on the trade and use of tiger bones and rhino horns, which are considered in traditional Chinese medicine to have remedial properties.
In response to the reversal, the World Wildlife Fund said “the resumption of a legal market for these products is an enormous setback to efforts to protect tigers and rhinos in the wild.”
