The Irish State Broadcaster is reporting tonight that European Commission President Jean Claude Junker told Theresa May at 11 o'clock today "there will be no re-opening of the Irish backstop or the withdrawal agreement". A couple of hours later she was on her feet in the Commons declaring she was going back to Brussels to re-negotiate both.
She is asking MPs to arm her with a mandate to remove the very safety device designed to avoid the re-establishment of a hard Irish Border that she negotiated, agreed and, until today, advocated - the so called backstop.
In Westminster another night of "yah boo" politics in Parliament as the country's relationship with its closest neighbours teeters on the edge, we are also waiting for a series of votes whilst we are on air on whether MPs try to rule out a No-Deal Brexit.
