Part two of a three-part miniseries...
During the third season of 'Three's Company' the producers decided they wanted to follow their British predecessor and spin off the landlords into a show of their own. Thus was born 'The Ropers' (1979) which to Norman Fell was the worst idea ever. He didn't want to give up a successful show for a shot in the dark. Don't worry, he was told, if it doesn't work out, we'll bring you back on 'Three's Company'. After an intro of six episodes, 'The Ropers' returned for a full season, but ABC stuck it on Saturday night. Thus ended 'The Ropers'. And of course, they refused to let Fell back on 'Three's Company' because Don Knotts was doing fine. 'The Ropers' theme was by Joe Raposo, but it tries a bit too hard to be funny; however, the bizarre opening sequence didn't give the composer much to work with.

1:40 Opening titles and end credits, alternate version. The show was packaged with 'Three's Company' for syndication, so the opening now calls them 'Three's Company's Friends' and the music is taken from 'Three's Company'. The odd opening titles were shortened a bit, and different clips of some of the featured stars were used.
